How Travel Nurse Pay Is Structured
Travel nurse compensation has two parts: taxable wages and tax-free reimbursements. Here's what that looks like.
Base Hourly Pay
Taxable wages paid per hour worked. Typically $28–$42/hr depending on specialty and location.

Housing Stipend
Tax-free weekly stipend to cover housing costs. Higher in expensive markets like SF, NYC, and Seattle.
$950 – $1,400/wk
M&IE Stipend
Tax-free meal and incidental expenses reimbursement based on federal GSA rates for your assignment location.
$400 – $490/wk
